Viola Bow "G.Walbrodt Berlin" (2025)

Maker: Gregor Walbrodt

This contemporary viola bow is a new creation from Gregor Walbrodt’s Berlin workshop. Following the Tourte model, the round pernambuco stick offers both flexibility and a perfectly even balance from frog to tip. The bow is in mint, freshly finished condition.

It provides an effortless playing experience, producing a warm, full sound while maintaining clarity and projection. Articulation feels round and natural, and spiccato responds with ease, making this bow particularly well suited to players who rely on an economical, relaxed technique. It is especially appealing to musicians looking for maximum tonal output with minimal effort—an ideal companion for chamber, orchestral, and solo repertoire.

About the Maker — Gregor Walbrodt
Gregor Walbrodt’s craftsmanship is deeply rooted in the French tradition, shaped by formative years with masters such as J.M. Panhaleux and Stéphane Thomachot. A multiple gold-medal winner at international competitions—including several distinctions from the Violin Society of America—Walbrodt combines meticulous wood selection, refined camber work, and decades of experience as both a bow maker and violinist. His guiding principle is that a bow must disappear in the musician’s hands, allowing full concentration on interpretation. His bows are known for their perfect balance, flexible yet stable feel, and inspiring musical response—qualities he personally tests and fine-tunes in every bow that leaves his Berlin workshop.

About the maker

Every musician remembers the moment they first held the instrument that would become an extension of themselves, the tool you spend hours with everyday. Yet finding that instrument is rarely straightforward. The process can be uncertain and often relies on chance — on who you happen to meet, what you happen to hear, and how much you are willing to risk. Luthieri's founders, Martinique and Rui, met while studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig and quickly realized that their experiences while searching for their instruments and bows, though different, revealed the same gap: musicians need clarity and trust in their search for instruments and bows, while luthiers deserve visibility and recognition for their craft. Your instrument is your voice, the sound connected to your art and the foundation of your expression. Every musician remembers the moment they first held the instrument that would become an extension of themselves, the tool you spend hours with everyday. Luthieri was created with this in mind — a platform where musicians can find makers they can rely on, and where luthiers can share their work with confidence, knowing it will reach the musicians who need it most.
