How do I create a luthier account on Luthieri?
To create a luthier account, you can apply directly (here) through our platform. After an initial review of your details and approval, you will be able to easily list your instruments, bows, and services on Luthieri.
-
What information should I include in my instrument, bow, or service listings?
Your listings, your choice. Listings should showcase your work and the best way to do this is by including detailed descriptions, photos, condition, price, and any relevant certificates or documentation. Providing as much detail as possible helps musicians make informed decisions and places the spotlight rightfully on your work. We also encourage you to provide audio samples and video samples to give potential buyers a fuller sense of the instrument’s sound and appearance. (Audio samples should be uploaded in MP3 or WAV format with a length of up to 1'30’’; videos can be uploaded via a link to YouTube or Vimeo with a length of up to 1'30’’)

Are there guidelines for the recordings of my instruments?
We recommend a short set of standard excerpts to showcase technical and tonal qualities.
Modern instruments should start with a slow 3-octave scale with vibrato, starting from the lowest open string. Beyond that, we recommend including at least lyrical/romantic and fast spiccato excerpts.
Suggested Repertoire:
Violin
• 3-octave scale, starting on open G-string, slow with vibrato. Upwards is enough. (tempo 60bpm, with one note per beat)
• Bruch: Violin Concerto in G minor—Opening OR Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in D major—Opening
• Vivaldi: Summer, 1st Movement (excerpt)
• Bach: Adagio from Sonata No. 1, BWV 1001—Opening OR Allemanda from Partita No. 2, BWV 1004—Beginning
Viola
• 3-octave scale, starting on open C-string, slow with vibrato. Upwards is enough. (tempo 60bpm, with one note per beat)
• Schubert: Arpeggione Sonata, D.821—Beginning
Cello
• 3-octave scale, starting on C-string, slow with vibrato. Upwards is enough. (tempo 60bpm, with one note per beat)
• Saint-Saëns: Cello Concerto No. 1 in A Minor—Beginning OR Elgar: Cello Concerto in E Minor, Op. 85—Beginning
